Carport vs. Garage

Trying to decide on a Garden Building that both complements your property and offers protection for your car can become overwhelming. We sell large ranges of both Carports and Garages. Whilst each of these offer protection and shelter to your car, the levels can differ. In order to make your choice that much easier, we have devised a brief comparison.

If you are looking for a space to store your tools, equipment or Christmas decorations then a Garage is the choice for you. However, if we are talking solely about storing your car, then both are a good choice.

When the kids have moved away from home, or you find yourself without the need for a car, the Garage can easily be converted into a workshop to complete your projects. Whilst a Carport could be turned into a luxury shelter for your patio furniture and BBQ, giving you a sheltered environment to relax, the Garage offers slightly more security when leaving your possessions over night.

A Garage will naturally provide more protection than a Carport as they shield your vehicle from view of passersby. Our Garages with wooden doors are secured using a hasp and staple fastener to keep the door locked and maximise security. You can upgrade this lock easily if you want further security. For both convenience, and to make sure you don’t put the contents of your Garage on display everytime you need to get something, our Garages are accessed via a single door at the side.

To create an even more secure building, we use 4mm toughened glass throughout our Garage range. Far superior to the 3mm horticultural glass or Perspex that many of our competitors try to sell, this glass can resist the knock of a brick so will make it harder for unwanted visitors to break in.

Both a Garage and a Carport will shelter your car from the elements, preventing the need to stand shivering as you de-ice your car on a freezing cold day or clean it everytime a bird leaves you a present.

Budget is definitely something to consider when planning any modifications to your home. Our Lean to Carports, which attach to the side of your home similar to that of a patio, start at as little as £1069.99 and our more traditional Carports (3 walls and a roof) start from £1,859.99. Our range of Garages is only slightly more expensive at £1,956.99 so there’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to find the shelter you want.

Ease of build
Our Garages and Carports are delivered to you in kit formation, and with an instruction manual, making construction very simple. With a bit of DIY know how, and perhaps help from some friends, you could have it built in as little as a weekend. If you don’t think this build is within your skillset, we do offer installation on many of our Garages and Carports so don’t worry – all they’ll want is a cup of tea.
