Nick Pacey is a surveyor and part-time rocker from Milton Keynes. He purchased a Dunster House Garden Building from us in 2010 and transformed it to a home recording studio and rehearsal space for his band. This is his story.
The band needed a base
Nick has a passion for music and playing with his band, but he needed a cost-effective solution for a rehearsal space. Previously, Nick told us that he has been paying for the use of rehearsal facilities in the local area and he said that his band needed somewhere to record their material. So, Nick considered his options and decided that his garden could play host to a dual-purpose rehearsal/home studio space.
Choosing the right venue
After looking at some cabins online, Nicke decided to check out our range. He liked that Dunster House had a base near to his home (our Bedford branch) so he could take a good look at the cabins in person and see if they were a right fit for him. After examining the range with his highly-trained surveyor’s eye, Nick was impressed and purchased a PremiumPlus Coronet from us.
We asked him what he liked especially about Dunster House’s garden buildings and he commented that they were well-made, local to him and offered twin wall construction, allowing the cabins to be insulated – a very important factor when setting up a music studio.
Setting up the space
The Dunster House installation team constructed Nick’s cabin in just two days. During the construction, Nick was also able to insulate the cabin using proprietary sound installation materials, to ensure his band practices didn’t disturb the neighbours. During the process, Nick said that he found the Dunster House team very helpful and he said that he would use the installation team again on his next project, rather than calling our a separate contractor.
In terms of the cabins design and planning, sourcing all of the proper equipment was the main concern for Nick. The finished results, as you can see, show just how well-equipped and comfortable his studio looks.
The Grand Opening
We asked Nick what his bands reactions were to seeing his brand new rehearsal space. He said that everyone who comes to use it loves it. Now Nick and his band have the ideal place to rehearse and record whenever they like.
Nick recommended Dunster House to his daughter. He told us that she now has her eye on one of our lovely Log Cabins. Nick has subsequently ordered from us again too.
