The rise of internet shopping is a marvellous thing giving you plenty of options whatever you are looking for but, unless you know specifically what you’re looking for, this can be overwhelming. When I first came to work for Dunster House I knew nothing about Log Cabins, Garden Offices or Summerhouses, among the other things we sell, and I found the technical ‘jargon’ we use confusing. I’ve been here two years now and I (kind of) have a grip on why pressure treated timber is better, the differences between tongue and groove thickness and I am even getting the hang of Polyurethane insulation. This has taken a lot of time and I want to take the complexity out of it – with a little help from Director Andy Murphy in our YouTube video (below)
So, in short, why buy one of our Premium Log Cabins?
- Extra space:
Whether you are using it as a retreat, study, hobby room or office our Log Cabins offer you sanctuary from your home. This not only gives you a dedicated space to truly focus on your work but also frees up valuable space in your home stopping you from tripping over paperwork. As our Log Cabins are under 2.5m high, you don’t need planning permission to place your cabin within 2m of a boundary (such as a fence, wall etc)
- Made from the best
We don’t like to brag (maybe a little) but we use Spruce in our Log Cabins as it is simply a better timber than others you find on the market such as pine. It has less dead knots giving a cleaner, chicer look to your timber and, as it has less sap, you don’t need to worry about it ruining your clothes or furniture. One of the most crucial features in Spruce, which clearly stands it out from the rest, is that it has a less permeable cell membrane wall. In short, your Log Cabin is more repellent than other timbers so you don’t need to worry about leakages! The timber is also less susceptible to blue mould fungus which can cause unsightly black marks across your timber.
- Made to last
We like to think we know Log Cabins, and how you will use them, which is why we take measures to make sure your Log Cabin lasts. Our entire range of Log Cabins comes with pressure treated bearers. Very different from dip treatment, the pressure treating process forces the treatment deep into the bearers so you don’t need to apply treatment for 10 years. The treatment protects the bearers, which will be constantly exposed to damp conditions, against rot and fungal decay – this is vital for longevity!
We use 6 pins euro cylinder locks on our Log Cabin so you can rest safe in the knowledge that your valuables are protected against unwanted visitors. Further to this, we use 4mm toughened glass in our windows which has been known to resist a brick or two (we say known but, honestly, we tested it).
