Work from home Pros and Cons
Working from home has its pros and cons. Advantages include saving money on commuting and clothes, and having more flexibility over your tasks. Disadvantages include loneliness, and having to manage your own productivity. Are you an under-worker or an over-worker? Either can disturb your work-life balance.
One of the biggest disadvantages of working at home is that you have to occupy a room in your house to do so. This can cause storage problems as you suddenly have less space, and is likely to lead to an inability to turn off from work in the evenings because you live where you work.
A clear solution to this is to buy a separate building to work in.
While our customers have converted many different ranges into home offices over the years, today we’ll focus on the purpose-built Garden Office buildings which we can offer you. These start at just £2914, and range in size from the compact 4.42m2 to the luxurious 26.11m2.
Our Contemporary Offices are aimed at people with smaller budgets and smaller gardens, to enable as many people as possible to start working from home. They are fully insulated, come with 28mm double glazing, and can be purchased in a number of different exterior colours and styles. All our sealed units comply with EU regulation EN1279, which means that we can guarantee there won’t be any condensation build-up for 5 years. We manufacture these units ourselves and have done for more than 20 years. The door locking system has nine points and the glass in the doors and windows is toughened, so that your computer or files will be as safe as they possibly can be. We offer rectangular roof shingles in three colours and hexagonal shingles in black for the office roof. There are three sizes of Contemporary Office: Piccolo, Medio and Grande.
Our Modern Offices are designed to be everything you need in an office. Like the Contemporary Offices, the Modern Offices are fully insulated with high-quality polyurethane insulation. They alsohave 28mm domestic style double glazing. This means that your office will retain heat very well and thus is suitable for use all year round. The Modern Offices are made from fully pressure treated spruce timber. We are so confident in our pressure treated timber, that we offer a 10 year guarantee against rot and insect infestation. So your office should last you until you need a bigger one!
Our Modern Offices are designed to look just like another room in your house. The walls are covered with seamless plasterboard, creating a smooth, professional and neutral surface. That way you can decorate as you please. The ceiling and floor are edged with coving and skirting boards, which hides wires, joins and any edges of timber, and makes the office look homely.
We also provide the means for you to have electricity in your office. We do not link it to your house mains, and so you will have to get a qualified engineer to do this. However, we provide you with two double-gang plug sockets and halogen spotlights all wired up to the integrated fuse-box. If you need more power points, you can buy up to four more plug sockets, and a network access point for connecting wirelessly to a wired network. The UVPC in the office can be selected in grey, rosewood, golden oak or white. The roofing material for the Modern Offices in EPDM. This is a very durable synthetic rubber material which is highly waterproof. It is laid as one whole sheet. We offer a ten-year guarantee against penetration of the EPDM by rainwater.
The Chunky Offices have most of the same perks as the Modern Office, but a different design. They are named after the chunky design of the grooved corner posts and roof rafters. They come with full length UPVC panels fitted with our standard office double glazing (28mm). Also, one opening window in the timber wall for increased ventilation if necessary. The opening window comes with friction-stay hinges, so that your window will stay open when pushed. It has domestic quality key-locking handles. Unlike our Modern Offices, the Chunky Offices have a high vaulted ceiling, supported by galvanised steel. We offer our high-quality ‘Superfelt’ and rectangular and hexagonal shingles for this higher pitched roof.
